African American Hair Growth Tips

These African American hair growth tips are  some of the most common reasons or hindrances to lack of long hair for many people. If you're struggling to achieve and maintain healthy hair then here are some tips to help you grow your hair to longer lengths.

Relaxer Schedule

Determine the proper schedule to relax your hair and stick to it.  Stop playing around with your hair and its health.  If you have found that relaxing your hair every 8 weeks works perfectly for you, then stick to it.  Don’t change it to 24 weeks because that works for a friend of yours.  On the same token, don’t be afraid of new growth and start relaxing your hair every 6 weeks either.

 African American Hair Products

Damaged Hair

If you have split ends, get rid of them.  If you’ve heard it once, you’ve heard it a thousand times, the split ends will not heal.  They will only get worse.  Furthermore, they don’t look very nice.  So just go ahead and trim them off so your hair can at least look healthy even if it’s not at your desired length. The growth of your hair will look inhibited if you allow your hair to break off instead of trimming it.

Deep Conditioning

Deep condition your hair more times than not.  Now I know you find deep conditioning to be time consuming but it doesn’t have to be.  Have you ever thought of deep conditioning prior to shampooing your hair?  This can save you time from jumping in and out of the shower.  Simply saturate your dry hair with one of your favorite deep conditioning products.  Put a really warm towel on your head along with a plastic cap and let it cool for 20 minutes or so.  Deep conditioning treatments are simple and easily accomplished.

Minimal Heat

Avoid using heat unnecessarily is extremely important to how to grow black hair even faster.  Find a schedule and stick to it.  If you’ve found that using heat every 2 weeks gives you a minimal amount of split ends, then great, you’ve found the answer for you.  Now don’t you start touching up your hair with the flat iron every other day to make it through.  Either re-wash your hair and wear it naturally or just get through it by wearing a bun.

Updos vs Downdos

One of the most uncommon African American hair growth tips is to wear your hair up more than you wear it down.  That’s right – you may not get to have free-flowing hair every chance you get, but your hair will get healthier over the long term.  Why?  Because you won’t be subjecting your hair to harsh elements such as the wind, sun, pollution as well as even the fabrics of your clothing like wool and acrylic.  Also make sure that your updos are not too tight so that you don't experience any hair loss or thinning.  You can also try vitamins or other natural hair care products/treatments to help combat thinning if you're already going through this.

Have any of these African American hair growth tips given you food for thought?  Maybe you can't use them all but I hope that you're able to find or one or two areas that could use a bit of a makeover.  Good luck!
