African Hair
by Natacha
(London, United Kingdom)
Hello my name is Natacha and I live in London.
I would like to know because in all the forum I can see on your website you're talking about Afro-American hair and what about the African hair. I am an African (was born in Europe but my parents are from Africa) so my hair is short and I use relaxer all the time to straighten my hair.
I saw your picture and you've got long and beautiful hair. I would like as well my hair to be long and I tried so many different things it is difficult when you've got African hair.
I would like you to help me find a solution to help my hair grow.
Thank you
Natacha
ps: This is a picture of my hair when I was just coming out of the hairdresser and relaxed my hair.

Hi Natacha,
African-American Hair and African hair are really just textures. People across all races can have various textures so you should be able to read my advice and apply it your hair as well. The common hair texture range is 1a to 4b. By African hair, I am guessing that your hair is closer to the 4b texture.
By looking at the picture of your hair, it looks very healthy and has a great length! You are off to a great start to get longer hair. Hair grows at various rates but generally grows 1/2 inch per month.
Keep your ends trimmed so that they don't break off.
Don't relax your hair too often. Learn to handle your hair texture so that you don't feel the need to rush to a relaxer as soon as you see your natural texture. Wait at least 8 weeks.
Keep your hair and scalp clean.

You're doing a great job on your hair, keep it up!
