All Types of Hair Problems

by Carissa
(Washington, DC)

This is my problem. I DO NOT KNOW WHAT TO DO WITH MY HAIR.

My hair is recently relaxed for the first time back in August. It is past bra strap length but not yet at mid back length.

My problems are everything imaginable. I can't air dry because my hair looks A MESS when it dries...it may not be dry but it's basically a mess and I don't like walking around like that. I hate roller sets because I'm in college and CAN NOT sit under a dryer for 2 hours. (it takes that long for me) plus it's way too fluffy when I'm done. And when I blow dry it, is always dull and dry!!! even when i use great expensive products!!!!! I can't afford to go to the salon right now because I'm in college. But I need help. Every day my hair is put in a tight bun that looks awful and i hate it. I can't ever wear my hair out :(

Please help!!

Nina's Response

Hello Carissa,

Well, my best suggestion for you is to not give up!! It takes many trials to find something that works for your hair.

Have you thought about studying while you sit under the hair dryer for a roller set?

Try different techniques when you roller set. Use setting lotion or try leave-in conditioner or even water only. With each, you'll get different results and may find the one you're looking for.

It's not all about trying expensive products, it's more so about technique. If you don't know the proper way to blow dry your hair, then no expensive product in the world is going to make your hair look like you do. You have to learn the proper technique for blow drying and that comes with practice.

Spend some time reading the styling tips on my website and check out some hair styling videos on Youtube.com

Just don't give up! Anyone can learn to style and care for their own hair!
