An Affordable Multiple Use Product - My Miracle Nourisher

by Anna

Before anything else, I'd like to describe my hair. I have straight black hair up to my waist that's colored (parlor), and although my hair is generally manageable, due to the length I am mostly prone to split ends and messy, tangled hair.

My biggest problem with my hair is really split ends, dryness starting from the bottom half, and tangles and strange waves that randomly appears near the ends. These uneven waves consist of shorter strands that point out, with a lighter color due to the split ends (familiar, anyone?). The sad thing about having dry ends is that somehow the upper part of my hair, and near the scalp, my hair is shiny, healthy and sometimes, in fact, oily.

On to the solution I discovered. I've been using extra virgin coconut oil, with a few drops of rose oil, as a hand moisturizer that I also like spreading over my legs and arms. I got this idea from a prepared bottle from San Benito Farm, a spa destination (it's a farm with organic products everywhere meals, massage oils, etc.). After I was out, I simply purchased the coconut oil from the supermarket and then added fragrant with essential oils. My favorites are still rose, then bamboo.
When I first started using this for my hair, it was really just an experiment (I am by no means a homebrew girl I like buying products!).

However, the results are amazing. My hair is shiny, straight, and the split ends are somehow sealed together (be warned, them are not gone).Increase in split ends have lessened as well. I'd like to share how I use the coconut oil.

1.As a conditioner. After washing my hair, I use any conditioner (depends on the current favorite) and mix one teaspoon on coconut oil into it on my hand. I then work this on ONLY the lower part of my hair. This oil is potent and I advise you to use it only on the dry parts. I leave it in for a few minute and keep the hot shower on, creating steam. RINSE WELL!

2.As a leave on, I dab the tiniest amount on my palms and apply over my hair. Mind you, as this is oil, DO NO USE BEFORE ANY HOT STYLING PRODUCTS!!! Apply with a very, very light hand as the final step, only at the ends or it will make your hair flat on top. Just like that, for the rest of the day, I'll just run my fingers through my hair and it's fixed!

You could use other oils with this, but coconut oil is exceptionally nourishing for hair. I realized after some time that it is traditionally used on children's scalps to promote healthy hair. Hope this works on everyone. Thanks!
