Baldy-Locks!

by Linda
(Phoenix, AZ)

I had been wearing my hair natural for 2 years! Talk about beautiful natural healthy hair! Well I decided I wanted a change. So I did my research and did the responsible thing and went to the salon for a hair consultation on the Bio Ionic treatment.

Well according to what I found it was supposed to be good for your hair as it infuses keratin into the core of your hair shaft to make it strong. Additionally, it was only temporary so I can go back to my natural hair in 3 months.

I managed to keep chemicals and my hands out of my hair for 2 years and it all changed in a matter of 2 days after getting my treatment! I went from thick healthy hair to shedding clumps of hair. The wind could blow and my hair with fly right out!

My hair without any manipulation would fall right out! So here I am a month later wearing a wig. I have been doing deep moisturizing and protein treatments and my hair is steadily falling out!

I'm on the verge of the big chop and starting all over again.

So tired of the hair progress yo-yo. If I just would've kept my hands out of it!!

I went to another salon for help and was informed that the Bio Ionic product line is not for black women.

Bio Ionic Boo Boo is a Big No-No for Me!

I had the same thing happen!!
by: Laila

I was natural for almost two years. I had been wearing weaves and decided to try treating my natural hair and wearing it. I was convinced that the keratin treatment would loosen my kinky curls. They left the treatment in for three days and I came back to have it washed out and styled. Within days my hair began coming out by the handful. In order to reverse the keratin treatment, I had to get a perm. The shedding was immediately slowed, but I was left with thin hair. I finally just cut my hair off & started earlier. I've had to go to a dermatologist to get a steroid oil for my hair. He says it will take a while before my hair stops shedding and my scalp was damaged. He also said I wasn't the first person he has treated for keratin damage.
Good luck!!

They should have known better.

Hi honey, I am very sorry that happened to you!
I agree with the above poster about the moisture
treatments. Add a light oil to your deep conditioning treatments like olive and even some honey.

It will get better!

slow down on the protein
by: Anonymous

You may want to hold off on any more protein treatments. It sounds like your hair has been overloaded with protein(keratin) and is becoming brittle, dry, and snapping off. Focus on deep moisturizing your hair.

There is a balance that must be maintained between the two types of conditioning in order to have healthy hair.

Too much protein will leave your hair dry and stiff. Too much moisture will leave it weak and limp. Hope this helps!
