Basic Rules for Curly Hair
by Anne Heyns
(Turkey)
Curly hair is not such a distress as many might think but actually a blessing in disguise. If you have the time, you could get the biggest variety of looks, by straightening it.But if you do not have the time, then controlling the curls is a must. Curly hair is on the comeback now, but making them look good is another story altogether. To have your curly locks frizzy for a while, tangling and blow-drying is enough. For better results, using a diffuser as opposed to a blow dryer is preferable.
It is important to always use a good conditioner as well as moisturizing shampoo. It can get much more frizzier the more you touch your root. Get a deep conditioning treatment, if possible, at least once a month. It replenishes what the harsh daily wear takes out and it also helps to control your ends.
Be careful of coloring your hair to go Blond or Platinum Blond because stripping the natural color out of your hair to go lighter will make it dry and your curls will turn dry and limp.
Do not use a brush to comb out your wet hair but rather use a pick or a big toothed comb. Most hair damage occurs when your hair is wet, so be sure to use something like BC Bonnicures Sealed Ends, before and after you blow-dry. It will help with the frizziness and split ends.
Remember that most hairdressers is there to help you. A good hairdresser will make sure to cut your curly hair within your own curl formation which is by far the easiest and cheapest way to keep your lovely curly hair happy. So do not forget to have a hair cut appointment every 8-12 weeks.
