Black Hair Treatment for Healthy Hair

black-hair-treatmentBelow you'll find some tips on black hair treatment for healthy hair:

Deep Conditioning

Deep condition your hair with heat regularly.  You can do this by applying the deep conditioner and then sitting under a warm dryer.  Or you can just leave the condition on for about 30 minutes with a plastic cap.  Your body heat will help warm the conditioner to help it penetrate.  You can also use a hot conditioning cap which you can find as most beauty supply stores or online.  You should deep condition your hair at least once a month and if your hair is damaged, you should try for every two weeks or even weekly.

Hot Oil as a Black Hair Treatment

If you’re noticing excessive dryness in your hair, you can try adding hot oil treatments to your regimen in addition to deep conditioning. You’ll want to do this prior to shampooing and conditioning your hair otherwise, you’ll end up with super oily hair.  Make sure to sit under a dryer for 20 minutes or so to allow the oil to work.

Leave-In Conditioning

Depending upon your hair type and style, you’ll need to use either a spray leave-in conditioner or a creamy leave-in conditioner. These will just re-inforce the moisture in your hair that will allow you to go through the rest of the week with moisturized hair.   Remember to seal in this moisture with a little bit of serum when you’re styling your hair.

Limit Heat Styling as a Black Hair Treatment

Don’t use heat more often than necessary.  On average, most women who straighten their hair use heat every 2 weeks while some may prefer to do it once a week.  Whichever time period you choose, make sure it works for you and your hair goals.  If you find that straightening once a week inhibits you from reaching your long hair goals, then you’ll probably want to cut back to every 2 weeks and see how your hair does from there.

Styling Tools

Use good hair tools including seamless combs, boar’s bristle brushes, ceramic flat irons, and metal-free ponytail holder.

Do not brush your hair too often.  Use your boar’s bristle brush to lightly brush your edges to keep them neat.  But you should not be pulling the brush through the entire length of your hair.  Use a wide-tooth seamless comb for that.

Hair Trimming

Finally, remember to keep your hair trimmed regularly.  Healthy hair and split ends do not work together.  It may be painful to start trimming your hair regularly as it may seem as though you are losing length but I promise you that if you keep it up, you’ll actually retain more length in the long term.

Summary of Black Hair Treatment for Healthy Hair

Paying attention to conditioning, heat usage, styling tools and regular trimming will help you achieve achieve healthy hair at a fast rate.
