Can u say humidity and frizziness?

by Alexis
(Baltimore,Maryland)

Hi Nina! I am fairly new to LHHA but I absolutely love this website. The tips are very helpful. One thing that I haven't seen on the website is how to avoid frizziness when taking showers. My hair is @ my neck and I wear it with curls or flat iron it. I try my best not to put heat in it but it is very hard just because everytime I take a shower (which is everyday) my roots frizz up and I have to ad heat to it to get it back right. HELP!!!! I really want my hair to grow long and healthy but I know that constant heat will hender this. Please supply me with some tips and/or hair care products that will eliminate the humidity frizz my hair gets from the shower. Thanks again! Lexi

Not too hot
by: Nina, Editor, LHHA

Hi Lexi,

Here is what I do to keep my hair nice and fresh when I shower:

*First, I prepare my hair for the day. So, I take off my scarf and take my hair down. See how it looks and what it needs. Sometimes, I'll need to apply HHB to my edges to smooth them. And sometimes I'll add some serum to the length.

*Second, I put my scarf back on pretty securely.

*Third, I grab my shower cap and put it on tucking my scarf completely inside. The type of shower cap is important. You don't just want the thin ones that are cheap. You want the one that has the fabric inside.

*Fourth, Do not make the shower too hot. Keep the fan on in the bathroom to keep it ventilated. If you feel your head sweating while you're in the shower, then you've got it too hot. Also make sure your house, in general, is not too hot.

*Fifth, once you get out of the shower, take off the shower cap and the scarf and let your scalp breathe if you're feeling a little warm. If not, then just take off the shower cap and let the scarf stay on to continue to set your hair - if you're trying to smooth your edges.

I hope this helps!!
