Clipped Ends or Hair Cut?

by Ebony
(USA)

I had an encounter when I went to the salon to get my ends clipped. There is a young lady I know who works at the salon who clipped my ends. I sat in the chair thinking that I could trust her. While I was sitting in the chair, she began clipping my ends. I remember seeing about five inches of my hair on the floor. I knew that all I needed was maybe two inches cut,but she gave me a haircut!

And what made matters worse,I found out later that she really didn't like me in the first place! I was so mad because I knew that by now my hair would be longer.

I also trim my own long curly locks
by: Anonymous

After going to a stylist for a trim and they took off most of my hair charging me almost 40 dollars and that was without a wash and dry as I am allergic to their shampoos. I went in with freshly washed and clean wet hair . They knew this in advanced because I called to make an appt. and told them the situation the price for one was suppose to be lower. I only wanted a trim. Not a cut or style. I ended up with a nightmare. My hair was originally down to my butt and had previously been asked by a different hairstylist who makes wigs to buy my hair . I declined In spite of this girls efforts and bribes of large amount of money and a free hair cut . It just sounded to good to be true. Well at this other salon they cut my hair just above the shoulders I freaked watching it fall to the floor. Yes indeed enough to make a wig . or 2 wigs. Before she even touched my hair she complimented on how healthy it was etc. all the BS. and went away for a few minutes and the next thing I knew My hair was gone. I had it tied back in a pony tail. The way she cut it off was the pony tail then did a trim . I now have my long locks back and will never step into a salon again. I also believe my hair was used to make a wig because of the way it was cut in the first place. I am no Idiot . She charged me for a full cut and all the extras . I did complain because I did not get a shampoo nor blow dry and did not want a hair cut only a trim . The response was a trim is a cut . Excuse me. I now own hairdressing sizzers and trim my own hair . I do not trust any hair stylist any more. I do believe some are jealous when they see people who come in with hair that can grow down to their butts . it means the hair is healthy for one . I was told that . and I also do not use hairdryers consistently or numerous hair products on my hair.
I have never used a straightener. Just Shampoo, conditioner and way I go The curls do their own thing . Sometimes I will use hot curlers for a brief period to re arrange them if I am going some w2here special but I can also do the same thing with my finger while the hair is still wet and it will dry that way . I was taught as a kid we basically have to train our hair by my grandmother I am the only one with curly hair . out of 5 kids . I ,may have been better off going with the girl who approached me with the offer of 3000 dollars in money plus a hairstyle not that short for free. Lessons learned.

trust no one
by: Anonymous

This, friends, is why I trim my own hair. I don't trust ANYONE with my hair because I know how stylists just sort of do their own thing no matter what you tell them you want. Rarely am I ever happy with the results I get at so called "professional" hair styling places. Also the prices they charge are criminal. $40 just to CUT my hair? Not even style or anything else? No thank you.

I would have acted the fool...
by: Anonymous

Okay my sister (the gene seemed to have skipped me) and are are both born from the same parents. However, my father's mother's mother - my great grand mother was a Caribbean Indian so my sister and her twin brother were born with thick full shiny \kinky hair. However, my mom processed her hair with relaxers and had been doing so for many years so her hair would only get about armpit length. Recently my sis decided to stretch her hair - not relax it for a couple of months. As a result her hair began growing longer and coming in fuller etc. For an important event, she decided she would head to the salon for a relaxer. Instead of going to her usually stylist (who was out on vacation) she went to a stylist a friend recommended. That was the worst decision she could have ever made!
She asked for and got a relaxer, treatment and the usual trim before styling. Only this time there was something drastically different. Out of spite (later we found out the friend who recommended her was not actually a friend and the beautician was a close friend of my sis' friend ... all connected.) the beautician actually cut almost 9 inches off of her hair! And at the back/nap of neck area left about 2-3 inches unevenly. My sis said it all happened so fast - she went into a state of shock - frozen - and literally began sobbed at the sight of her hair dropping to the floor. As she sobbed others in the salon looked at her wondering what was going on and some even approached her. She said she just stood there and cried. Finally she gathered herself - asking the beautician why she'd cut her hair and so much of it?! The reply was amazing oh thats not that much, it'll grow back. 0_0! My sister just cried paid for the relaxer and left. A week or so later she went to her original stylist (still crying btw - not that I blamed her) asking if there was anything she could do to repair the damage the other stylist had done. I felt bad for her, she kept it from me for a long while. When I met her again for the first time in months (I'm studying overseas) I was visibly concerned at how short her hair was. She said the growth seemed stunted and was taking a long time to come back. I SWEAR I would have confronted this stylist as to why she did my little sister such an injustice. It made me angry and I promise you I would have acted the fool if (it were me) I had been there when this happened.
SOME Professionals are NOT Professionals at all. It was an act of hate towards my sister by a couple of jealous friends.
