Curl hair without heat damage

by sophe

I have long, fine, fragile hair and I wanted to curl it to add some volume but didn't want to use curling/styling irons for fear of breakage. A friend told me about Curlformers so after a bit of research I decided to try them and I'm really thrilled with the results. They're a great discovery and once you get the hang of them, they're so easy to use. They're like a hair roller but more versatile (you can even perm with them) and they create gorgeous curls without having to use heat, although you can give your hair a blast with a hairdryer once you've got the Curlformers in your hair, to speed up the process.

You can use them on all hair types - poker straight, naturally curly/frizzy, relaxed, coarse or fine and they come in a range of lengths and widths depending on whether you want tight ringlet curls, spirals or soft waves. Apparently you can sleep in them, but I don't think you'd get much sleep! I used the extra long and wide Curlformers, which came in a bag with a Styling Hook to apply them with.

They should always be applied to damp hair. I put them in after a shower and leave them while I put on my make up and do a few chores. You can leave them to dry naturally and when your hair is completely dry carefully remove the Curlformers. Sometimes I just leave it curly and other times I pull my fingers through the curls to give my hair texture and body. I mist with a hairspray for longer lasting hold.

Sophe - Thanks for sharing the information on Curlformers! They are a great alternative to roller sets for curls as well as curling irons!
