Curly Hair
by Marilyn
(Florida)
Having had curly hair all my life I can tell you that it has been a constant struggle to keep it looking shiny and bright. My hair tends to be naturally frizzy. So, first it starts with washing your hair with a moisturizing shampoo. Some great products to use are from ethnic lines like Motions or Pink.
After washing your hair, make sure you use a moisturizer, this will help to keep the curls in your hair for an extended period of time. Natural hair sometimes sets best with finger curls.
It's easy. As you run your fingers through your hair, twist the hair around your index in a curl. Then let go. If you want a really natural look, don't use a comb or brush, this will destroy the texture and leave it looking sort of flat.
Combing out your curls also takes away from the moisture that you were trying to leave in. After, you've done this, you're all set to go. Make sure to always have some moisturizer on hand. This can help you when the time comes for a touch up.
Another great tip, is always use a leave in treatment at least once a week. Leave in treatments tend to help the hair hold longer and keeps hair healthy!
