discoloration isnt only for your skin

When i was sixteen i decided to do something different to my hair. My hair has always been long and thick.

I went to my local beauty supply store and purchased some permanent hair dye ( can't remember what the name brand was). That night I gave myself a perm first and after I washed everything out I went straight to the hair dye.

I tried using the cap first to where I could pull strands through the holes and give myself highlights, but it wasn't working.

I went downstairs to get some aluminum foil. I thought since I had seen this done on television that this would be a great idea, I was wrong. I applied the dye to my hair and put the foil on the dyed sections. I waited for the allotted time to be up and took it out.

It came out good, so I thought. I then blow dryed my hair and straightened it. The next couple days I though I was the "Stuff" until too much heat got to my dyed hair and my hair started to change colors. The dye in my hair was originally like a light brown color. I wanna say it was copper. After the sun got to it it was turning a very light blonde and pink.

I felt embarrassed when I went to school because I could not cover it up. I could not wear hats or scarves. So I let my shame show. I was getting stared at and talked about. Soon my hair started to break off and my hair was getting shorter and shorter and I had to start wearing weave. My hair started to thin out and I never got my thickness back until now and that's only because I got it cut off.

My hair is now about 8-10 inches and I have my first hair dye to thank for that. I was dreading getting my hair cut but I know I had to do it because it was thin and I had split ends all over the place. Now I'm trying to grow my hair long and healthy again.
