Dominican Hair Salons

|
I first heard about Dominican hair salons when I first started frequenting hair care boards. Many women would discuss the wonders of these salons. Though I have never gotten the chance to visit one myself, I have learned a great deal about why there's such buzz about getting your hair done by a Dominican hair stylist.

Dominican Hair Products
Dominican hair products are one of the biggest pieces of the experience of a Dominican hair salon. Though most Dominican salons use salon products like Nexxus, Biolage, etc, they also more often use their own products.
Some of the common products used in these salons are listed below:
They also use many products that contain natural ingredients like avocado, milk, and silk proteins. Dominican hair products tend to have a wonderful smell and work very well with curly, natural, or relaxed hair to keep is strong and healthy.
Dominican Hair Styling
Dominican salons tend to follow pretty much the same procedure no matter whose hair they are working on. So, generally when you walk in you will see everyone going through the same styling process.
The following are the steps typically followed for Dominican Hair Styling that is frequenty called "The Doobie":
- Shampooing and Deep Conditioning under a hooded dryer for 10 - 15 minutes
- Setting hair with large magnetic rollers. They do this amazingly fast!
- Dryiing under a hooded dryer with enough heat to dry the hair in good time. Many of them use Pibbs Dryers.
- Removing rollers and blow drying roots with a VERY hot dryer and a round brush.
The result of this process is extremely bouncy hair with super straight roots! Many people love going to Dominican hair salons simply for the bouncy hair they get as a result. This is the main benefit of these salons.
Benefits to Dominican Hair Salons
As mentioned above, the bouncy hair that you receive as a result of their technique is probably the hugest benefit.
Another benefit is the use of their natural hair products as well as the deep conditioning that every customer has on every visit.
The price to go to these salons is also very cheap in comparison to traditional black hair salons. From my research, you can get their infamous doobie for under $20 and a relaxer for about $50.
The final benefit I'd like to share with you is that I have heard that these stylists can make a head full of new growth straight! As well, they are good with doing naturally curly hair or kinky hair. Hair comes out just as sikly and bouncy as if it were freshly relaxed!
Downside to the Dominican Hair Styling
Though you get some amazing benefits by seeing a Dominican Hair Stylist, there are some negatives that you should be aware of. For example, the blow dryer during the blow drying process is said to be VERY VERY HOT. Though it is only for a short time, this could be hard for some people to handle. It is definitely something you should be aware of should you visit one of these salons.
Additionally, it can be difficult to find a Dominican hair salon. They are typically on the East Coast in areas of New York, New Jersey, and Washington D.C.
Conclusion
As you can see Dominican Hair Salons offer a wide range of benefits. If you are ever in an area that has these salons, I encourage you to try them out since they are so hard to find in other areas of the country.
