Don't experiment the day before school

It was the day before my first day of high school and I still had not gotten my hair done and it looked a mess. I hadn't gotten a relaxer for the whole summer so my hair was very unmanageable. My normal hair stylist had no free appointments that day and my mom didn't want a stylist she didn't know doing my hair.

That's when my cousin offered to do my hair. She previously used to do my hair at her salon ,until she got another job, and she was willing to do it for free so I said sure. Everything was going well - she permed my hair then shampooed and conditioned it.

I then saw her take out some scissors "Don't worry" she assured me "I'm only trimming your I wanted my hair. I said my usual which was a wrap. She then preceded to ask me did I want a flat wrap or roller wrap. All through middle school I had gotten flat wraps cause I didn't have a choice then and I hated how flat my hair looked. So I thought hey new school new look so I told her I would have a roller wrap. BIG MISTAKE.

I noticed she was rushing a little bit because she had some where to go but didn't pay much attention to it. "Ok will I have to go pick up zack(her son) wen you go home just wrap your hair" she said in a way that had me concerned. I immediately got up and looked in the mirror my hair looked almost as bad as it did before it was now just a mess of curls and worse it was so short my used to be shoulder length hair was now barely pass my ears( I should have paid attention to how much of my hair she was cutting).

But I was thinking don't complain she did you a favor just go home and wrap it like she said it will turn out ok. When I got to my mom car I saw her eyes get big "Your hair looks...nice" she said. I just got in the car and didn't say anything. Then when I got home as soon as i walk in my dad goes "whats wrong with your hair", my mom was furious at him for saying, I almost wanted to cry at this point. I walked down to my room and my little brother(who was at the age where he didn't really know what to and what not to say, was like "sister your hair looks horrible" I went to my room and immediately wrapped it up.

The next day I was so scared to unwrap my hair. But I knew if anything was wrong it was best to find out before I was about to leave out so I unwrapped it. It was worse now my hair did not lay down like my cousin said it would and the curls now looked flat and lifeless and my mom had already went to work so i couldn't get her to fix it. I couldn't even manage to get it into a pony tail.

I thought about just missing the first day of school but knew I would get in trouble for it. There was not even enough time for me to try to flat iron it so finally I had to suck it up and go to the bus stop. Wen I got to school my friend went "Wow I thought you said you were getting your hair done for school" I don't think she was trying to be mean but I got so mad at her I was almost to the point that I was going to pretend to be sick so I could go home.

No more comments were really made about my hair for the rest of the day will at least none directly to me but I still found my self counting the time til i could finally go home and end this nightmare. Well that experience taught me never to experiment with a hair style the day before a big event
