Douglas Fir Essential Oil
Douglas Fir essential oil is distilled from the Douglas Fir tree, it is part of the pine tree family. The needles and bark are used to extract the oil. The process is carried out through a steam distillation process: the needles and the bark are boiled together and then from the steam the oil separates.
Uses Essential Oil - Douglas Fir
This essential oil is traditionally used for a host of maladies and as an additive to create scents. Some of the disease that it treats are relative to the respiratory system and include the following:
- Asthma
- Sinus infection
- Respiratory infection
- Acne
- Body Aches
- Throat infection
For asthma and other respiratory issues, the essential oil can be added to a humidifier and inhaled deeply. For Acne and body aches the essential oil can be massaged into the effected area. This essential oil is an immunostimulant and can be used to increase and strengthen the immune system to prevent infection.
The essential oil from Douglas Fir has calmative properties, is antiseptic and tonic. It is also non toxic, non sensitizing and smells great. It has been helpful in treating depression, anxiety caused by stress and irritable bowel syndrome.
This is a primarily topical and arometherapuetic oil that should not be taken internally unless under the supervision of a well versed practitioner. This essential oil like most essential oils should be used in conjunction with a carrier oil. It mixes well with other essential oils to include, Marjoram, Rosemary, Lavender and Galbanum.
Other Uses
This essential oil has deodorizing properties and can be used as a cleaning agent and can be diffused to freshen the air. It is used in soaps, air fresheners and perfumes. It is widely available and can be found easily through out the United States.
