Extremely Damaged Hair

by Janine
(Korea)

My hair is extremely damaged. My hair is short and dry. I have had a relaxer for about 18 years and now I am in the transitioning process. I wear weaves because this is the only way that my hair is presentable. The only way that I can wear my real hair is to put it into a pony tail. I have fine hair naturally and the dryness and breakage makes it worse.

I am currently in Korea and needless to say there are not many hairdressers. I recently started using aphogee and I use ORS Hair Mayonnaise and Creamy Aloe Shampoo to wash and deep condition weekly. I oil my scalp with olive oil or wild hair growth oil. I grease my hair with Blue Magic because it gets really dry. In reference to hair styling I do a full head sew in weave. I do this myself to ensure it is not braided to tightly. Like I said before I oil my scalp daily while in the braids. Also I spray Infusium 23 Leave In Conditioner about three days a week. My question is am I going about this correctly to transition? I trimmed my damaged ends abut a week ago. I just learned from this site that I need a trimming schedule so I will trim again in 7 weeks. I am just trying to get rid of the damaged hair and start over with healthy unrelaxed hair.

P.S. I have also been using hair, skin, and nails vitamins for about a month now.

Dry Hair Needs Water
by: Anonymous

Hi Janine,

I think you should try taking a break from the weaves. Try conditioning your hair weekly - deep conditioning with a heat. Continue to use the ORS Hair Mayo but only once a month. Instead, try using Nexxus Humectress weekly to deep condition. Let your hair air dry and then lightly blow dry it or either do a braid out.

I do not recommend using grease on your hair. If your is dry, use a leave in conditioner and seal it with an oil or serum. Use an oil like jojoba oil. I do not recommend Infusion Leave-in. It contains a lot of proteins and could make your hair brittle and dry. Try using Motions Leave-In or even Salerm 21.

The vitamins sound great. Try getting your hair trimmed every 2 months.

I hope this helps!
