How Do I Get My Hair to Grow?

get-my-hair-togrow

"I just can't get my hair to grow."

How many have you heard someone say that?

How many times have you said it yourself?

My younger sister frequently looks at my length (which is just a little longer than hers) and says "My hair just doesn't grow like that.  I don't know what's wrong with it."

Yet, my sister has color in her hair that she got about 3 months ago.  About 1.5 inches of her roots are black.  Hmm, call me crazy but that's growth, right?  The proof that her hair is growing is right there!

The Problem

Now where does the problem lie?

It is not a root problem! It's an "ends" problem!

People always think their hair isn't growing yet they "need" a touch-up at 8 weeks because they just can't handle the new growth.  Hmm, if you have new "growth" then how can you say that your hair doesn't grow?

I think you need to begin looking at your ends.

What do they look like? What do they feel like?  Are you happy with them?

The Symptoms

Here are somethings to look for:

  • Do you see split ends?  Hair split into two or three or four? A hair that looks like a tree branch?  A split hair that is 1/2 inch long?
  • When you style your hair, do you see short pieces of hair lying on the counter or in your comb?

What I've just described are some of the "end" problems that you may be experiencing.  All the vitamins and growth products in the world will not solve this problem.

You need to nourish your hair from the inside as well as the outside.

Additionally, hair requires maintenance.  Once you get growth, that's fine and dandy, but what are you doing to keep it?

The Solution

These pages on my site will help you with the breakage, dryness, and split ends that are preventing you from retaining growth.

Learn about split ends:  Causes treatment, sealing, and preventing.

Learn how to overcome dryness that could be leading to split ends.

Learn methods for treating breakage.

Learn additional symptoms of damaged hair and how to treat it.

Follow my recommendations and you shouldn't find yourself asking "Why can't I get my hair to grow?"Comb your hair down straight and take a mirror to see the back.  Is is even?  Is it shorter in the middle? Shorter on the right side or left side?  Do remember cutting it like that?  Do the same with the front of your hair.
