Is There a Way to Grow Hair Faster?

My college years were mostly concerned with how I could grow hair faster than normal. By the time freshman year was over, the front of my hair had started to inch towards my shoulders from my senior year bad cut.
College was good for something though. Being on my own and away from home and my stylist, I was forced to learn how to better care for my hair. |
How could I style my own hair and have it look like I'd had it professionally done? How could I keep it healthy?
My hair was definitely long but was it healthy? Probably not.
I remember one time being on the elevator and a guy friend of mine somehow commented that I had split ends. I was so ashamed!
I started thinking what's the use of long hair if it isn't healthy?
And guys notice things like that?
By senior year of college, I accidentally got another bad hair cut. I think I blocked this one from my memory but I think it was due to wanting to get rid of some of the damage and I figured getting the front half of my hair cut to bang length would help with that. Once again, I remember not being happy with the cut and wondering how long it would take to grow back this time.
I remember that one of my good friends and I were always trying to figure out ways to grow our hair faster and have the long hair of our childhood. She recalled using a grease called Dax. I recalled Posner's Coconut Oil.
So, we both set out to getting our long hair even longer by "greasing our scalps" every night before bed. I don't think we really saw any noticeable results and eventually gave up and didn't come up with anymore hair growth tricks. Besides, it was kind of gross and made my hair feel dirty quickly!
