Growing Out Length for Men

by Steve
(Phoenix)

What about guys? I'm a white guy who wants long hair. It's past shoulders already. I highlight and color as I'm graying. I'd like "Nice" mid back length.

Same Principles Apply!
by: Nina, Editor LHHA

Hi Steve,

You can follow the same principles as there are for women. It's all just hair, right?

Here are a few tips for you:
1. If your ends are not healthy, get them trimmed. I know I hate to see men with long hair and scraggly ends! Then continue to get your ends trimmed every 2-3 months.

2. If your hair is on the curly side, try not to shampoo it too often. Otherwise, use a moisturizing shampoo and conditioner when you wash your hair. Nexxus makes good products but you can also try Neutrogena Triple Moisture.

3. Sleep on a satin pillowcase - I know that sounds totally cheesy for a guy but believe me, it will save your hair. Your only other option would be to wear a scarf - but I'm doubting you'd want to do that. :)

4. Also, at night, braid your hair so it doesn't get all tangly and get all over the place.

5. When you're outside (I just picture you with a motorcycle!), make sure you protect your hair from the wind!

I hope this helps you! Please keep me posted on your progress!
