Hair Journal
by Nina, Editor LHHA
Do you remember the last time you gave yourself a protein treatment?
Do you remember the last time you got your relaxer touch-up?
Do you remember the last time your hair was trimmed?
You probably had to think about those for a little while, didn't you?
A good way to keep track of things you are doing to your hair as well as track your hair goals is to keep a hair journal.
In the hair journal, you can keep track of conditioning treatments, hair stylist appointments, trimming schedules, as well as relaxer schedules. There are so many things to remember in our day-to-day life that trying to keep track of everything we do to our hair is sometimes just impossible.
A good way to keep a hair journal is with a simple calendar. Get a nice miniature calendar with the dates in squares. You can plan out your whole year if you like or just a few months in advance.
By using this hair journal, you'll know when you've hit 10 weeks without a trim. You can then analyze your ends and see if you need a trim. Whether or not you need a trim is beside the point. The point is that you are reminded to check them!
For relaxers, this is equally important. You don't want to relax your hair too soon and for some of you, you don't want to wait too long to relax. It's also a good way to plan if you're going on vacation. You can manage your schedule so you get a relaxer in time for your trip or for right after your trip.
Are you keeping a hair journal? Is it helping you keep track of your hair goals?
