Hair Loss and Diet Information

Hair Loss Nutrition: This article explains how hair loss and diet effect each other.

“Beauty comes from within”, it’s very true, especially when it comes to our hair.  We do many things to keep our hair glossy and bouncy.  We usually go to hair salon every month for spa treatments, hot oil treatments, keratin oil massage, have our hair straightened, relaxed, etc.  These rituals are good for the maintenance of our already gorgeous hair, but excessive hair treatments can also do harm than good.  And to cure our hair’s external damage, going to a salon is a remedy not a solution.

Our hair has natural elements that protect it from damages.  It can produce natural oils to make it shiny while its melanin, shield itself from the scourging heat of the sun.

But we also need to support our hair’s defense by supplying it with the correct nutrition through a complete and well-balanced diet.

Hair Loss Nutrition Elements

Here are some essential nutrients that we should include in our food regimen for the healthy growth and reproduction of our hair:

  • Copper – reduces hair pigmentation.
  • Calcium – does not only make our bones and teeth stronger but our hair too.
  • Water - is crucial to our body for hydration but it also provides moisture to our hair.
  • Protein – is important as it is the building element for the production of a healthy hair.
  • Iron – is essential to the transmission of oxygen not only for the blood but to our hair as well. Lack of iron can lead to anemia and eventual hair loss.
  • Zinc – encourages the formation of nucleic acids which is responsible for cell regeneration and normal hair growth.

Essential fats, vitamins and minerals are just as important for the healthy growth of hair.  We may also take vitamin supplements to fill the lacking nutrients in our body.  But nonetheless, natural and organic fruits and vegetables are still the best source of nutrition.

Lacking Hair Loss Nutrition Effects

Lack of appropriate nutrients not only makes us prone to serious diseases but it can also result to hair loss. Other bad eating habits and practices like crash diets and other form of food-deprivation not only make us look horribly skinny but cause us to shed some hair too.  Eating disorders like bulimia and anorexia are also possible causes of hair loss.

We do a lot of things for beauty but all of these efforts will be wasted if we do not feed ourselves with the right amount of nutrition to nourish not only our body but also our hair.  Remember that with proper hair loss nutrition, we can control and prevent this from occuring.
