HAIR ON FIRE [LITERALLY}

When I was a little girl, I went over my grandmother's friend's house for Halloween. I was excited because I knew she had plenty of Halloween goodies in store for the kids. When we arrived at my grandmother's friend's house, there was a long table in a dimly lighted room. And on the table were a kid's candy dream come true! I eagerly rushed to the table as my grandmother and friend headed towards the kitchen for a chat.

There were bowls of different types of candy spread out all over the table. And in between the bowls of candy, were lit candles-as a decoration piece. Anyways there was a bowl that was located in the middle of the table that I couldn't quite reach. Remember , I was a little girl, so I still didn't reach puberty yet. And I didn't want to disturb my granny and her friend while they were talking. I also happened to have my hair in Pocahontas braids that day. So I reached over on my tippy toes to reach for the candy in the middle of the table. and well you can guess what happened next. LOL

One of my braids caught on fire. I thought it was the end, for sure. But then I remembered something I was taught in school. Stop, drop, and roll, was what I was taught if a person were to catch on fire. So thats exactly what i did. And in the process I was shrieking for my dear life! That drew my grandmother and her friends attention. They quickly got a cup of water and singed my braid in the cup. I ended up losing 1 inch of hair from my ponytail, but at least I was still alive. Thank God! From that day on, I have learned my lesson. Ive been very careful when im around fire, ever since. LOL
