Here we go AGAIN

by Sheila
(Arizona)

I have discover when I stopped perming my hair that my hair strands have a unique curl pattern. I cut it low and grew my hair to about shoulder length. I keep it conditioned but it would still seem dry and would frizz or mat. So I put in a texture softener :(. Big mistake.

My hair was damaged, thin, frail and bone straight. So I did the big chop to about the root. Healthy hair is revealed. I have been using castor oil and olive oil to moisturize my scalp before which worked great when I had longer hair but seems to be too heavy for my shorter hair.

My hair curls in a snap when I used Aloe Vera but is this healthy? Now some of the strands curl and some frizz help!!!!

Alas I also live in Arizona and the weather can get to 100+ and I want to keep my hair healthy and moisturized.

I would like to regrow my hair to 12 inches and maintain my natural texture.

Been there, doing this...
by: Anonymous

I've been in a similar situation.

This is what I've been doing/using and it has been good to me.

Alma powder (or brahmi powder) and neem powder and egg pact once a week or every other week. The amla will help to condition your hair and encourage growth. The brahmi will help prevent hair fall and protects the hair strand, and the neem is all around awesome for your hair and skin. I make sure i use it in this mix because the egg might otherwise make your scalp flakey but the neem prevents that and conditions your hair at the same time.

Keep your hair and scalp moisturized with coconut oil (I *heart* vatika's but the pure coconut oil seems lighter.) and/or almond oil. I'm newly in love with castor oil as it has helped with split ends and strengthened my hair, but it has the consistency and stickiness of honey. I've tried warming the oil with some sort of tea rinse, putting it in my hair, letting it sit, and rinsing it out, and that seems to alleviate some of the stickiness and heaviness. Note: my hair is in braids, so it can handle more weight than it otherwise could.

Hope that was intelligible.

Oh yeah, scalp massages for 20min a day are your very best friends!

Best!
