How to keep curly, frizzy hair under control!
by Alyse
(New York)
I am on the left, curly hair and all!
I would have to say the best advice for having naturally thick curly (and oftentimes frizzy hair) is using a great deep conditioner, and also a hair oil. My definition of deep conditioning is slightly different than what they explain on the package. I got a tip from my hair dresser that if you put any conditioner, but preferably a very thick deep conditioner, on dry hair (that isn’t overly dirty or greasy) and wrap your head in a towel for any where from 30 minutes to one hour, you will have amazing results. After the time is up, you just get in the shower and shampoo and condition as normal.
I use this method about once a week, and it gives me fantastic results, my hair is softer, shinier, and it keeps split ends away longer. Another method, which should be combined with the deep conditioner, is using a hair oil after you get out of the shower, on clean wet hair. This helps lock moisture and other damaging elements out of your hair. I suggest using Neutrogena Triple Moisture Deep Conditioner, and also Neutrogena Triple Moisture Hair Oil. They are both relatively inexpensive and work phenomenally. If you prefer not to use these I suggest using the same brand of deep conditioner and hair oil. I promise you that if you do this, your hair will be healthier than you ever imagined!
