How to Manage Curly Hair Styling
If you want to learn how to manage curly hair styling you'll need to learn several things. First, you'll need to learn how to detangle your hair properly. Second, you'll need to learn how to choose and apply styling products for your type of curly hair. Finally, you'll need to learn how to keep your hair looking good while you sleep.

How to Manage Curly Hair Styling by Detangling
The first thing to know in how to manage curly hair styling is to prepare your hair for styling by making sure it’s detangled first. You’ll want to do this with a wide-tooth comb. Always start at the ends of your hair and work your way up slowly detangling as you go. Do this section by section and you’ll see that you won’t lose much hair during the detangling process.
As you do this, grab a leave-in conditioner and apply to your hair. With curly hair, using a leave-in conditioner is a must every single time you wet your hair. A spray leave-in conditioner is ok for finer hair whereas coarser curlier hair will need a thicker leave-in cream conditioner.
Now on to your styling product…
Styling Product
One of the biggest problems with learning how to manage curly hair styling is that curly-heads have to deal with hard crunchy hair after styling!! You just want defined and touchable curls but you end up with helmet hair instead.
In order to alleviate some of this crunchy hair, avoid using mousse or gel. These products go on soft but turn hard once they are dry. Instead of mousse or gel, try using a product specifically made for curly hair such as a curling cream.
Once again, you’ll want to choose something based on your hair texture and type. Thicker, kinkier curls will need a heavier cream-based product. Medium-sized curls will do just fine with a light curling cream. Medium curlies can scrunch their hair to enhance the curl more.
No matter what type of curls you have, you want to choose a product that will keep your curls smooth and frizz free and offer hold throughout the day.
You’re already halfway there to knowing how to manage curly hair styling. Read on…
Don't Touch!
Since curling cream may not always have the hold that you’re looking for so you can always add a tiny bit of gel just for extra hold. And remember to set it and forget it!! Once you style your hair, leave it alone. Let it dry.
At the end of the day, you’ll notice that your hair looks the same as it did in the morning! However, if you play around with your hair all day, it will turn into a complete tangly mess.
Managing Curly Hair Overnight
Maintaining your curls overnight for second-day hair is pretty easy to do if you use a satin or silk pillow case. Cotton pillow cases cause friction with your hair and you wake up with a super frizzy hairdo. Unlike cotton pillows, satin pillow cases allow your curls to slide easily over the surface without catching and mussing up the hair cuticles. You wake up with hair that is still in pretty good shape to make a few adjustments and have second-day hair.
You might also want to wear your hair in a pineapple. Basically, t his just means to put your hair in a high ponytail overnight. Always use a satin scrunchy to do this and don’t make it so tight that it pulls your hair. You can also consider wearing a satin scarf to keep your hair smooth overnight.
Now you've learned how to manage curly hair by detangling properly, using products made for curly hair, and keeping your hair fresh overnight.
