Lovely Long, and Natural to Struggling, Short and Relaxed
I had long hair from when I was in primary school until sixth grade. My mother had never known how to do hair so she had taken me to a hairdresser as soon as I was old enough to sit in the chair. I had always loved having long hair, but I had never taken care of it, My hairdresser was the only one who touched my hair.
Towards the end of sixth grade, my hairdresser ran into some difficulties with her shop and had to close it down. Until we found a new hairdresser, my mother let my housekeeper, who supposedly had a background in hair and cosmetology press and braid my hair.
In 3 months my once chest level hair had broken off to my shoulders. My mother decided to let my hair grow out in braids. For a year I wore braids and my hair grew out.
Once I took the braids out, my hair was below my shoulders but still not where it used to be. My mother and I found my old hairdresser who said due to the occurrence of my first period, that my hair was finally able to be relaxed. After relaxing my hair, my old hairdresser couldn't take care of my hair regularly, so we went to a different salon.
My once long, thick hair slowly broke off to above my shoulders. Now it is barely touching my shoulders. I wish I had tried to learn more about my hair instead of letting others make the decisions for me. I MISS HAVING LONG HAIR!!!!
