My Hair is Growing Back - The Gallery

Finally, I finished transitioning and my hair is growing back.  As you can see from the pictures, I made a lot of progress in a short amount of time and then progress seemed to slow down.  That is because I have become a little too scissor happy and heat happy.  I have now revamped my regimen to include as little heat as possible so that I can reach my hair length goals.

August 2004
This is the basic shape and length of my hair after I had the relaxed ends cut off.  I loved my little tail.

I still wore ponytails everyday.  I usually used a big barrette in hopes of giving my hair a little length.

My hair was already gaining thickness and length from the big cut I'd done in August.

The shape was very much like a mushroom.

The first time I had my hair flat ironed professionally. I got a trim and this was the length.

Back to the daily ponytail.

I flat ironed my hair myself for a change of pace. It didn't last long!

I was gaining length and thickness. I really liked my hair here.

February 2005
The shape was a lot better after I had my trim in October.

March 2005
I got my hair professionally flat ironed on my 2 year anniversary of my last relaxer.  It was growing!

Six and a half months later, I was still gaining length consistently.

This is where I started getting addicted to wearing my hair straight but I loved how my hair felt silky unlike when I was relaxed.

Had a salon mishap.  The stylist gave me these crazy layers. I hated it.

Checking to see how those crazy layers were doing.  I started to trim my hair myself after this.

As you can see, it's more even across the bottom. I'd been gradually trimming it up myself.

I got turned on to roller sets here.  I love the curls and volume.

I had trimmed my hair again here.  My hair is growing but I was concentrating on getting rid of the layers.

Still a little scissor happy. I was trimming my hair in a blunt cut straight across.  I started actually miss the layers.  Go figure!

I took a break from heat styling and was wearing this ponytail for a few months.  I was happy to see my ponytail length compared to my November 2004 picture.

I trimmed my hair in a v-shape to see if I would like that a little better. I did.  I think I did a roller set in this picture.

I blow dried and flat ironed my hair which I don't do very often any more but I wanted to get a good trim.  I took this picture after the trim and curling the ends.  I like the u-shape.

October 2008

I wore my hair curly all summer and it's been back to straight for about 4 weeks.  I've probably trimmed off 2 inches over the past 4 weeks and this is what's left.
