My not so bangin' day

by Marlana
(Rochester, NY)

After completing my homework, I walked into the kitchen to see what was cooking, but, to my terror the island and kitchen sink were spotless- and there was a stool by the sink... time for a touch up. To this day I still has a flicker of fear when I see a clear kitchen because it reminds me of torture- excuse me I mean perms.

So anyways, after my mom washed my month old flat ironed hair, I told her that I didn't want my relaxer to stay on too long (she would always "forget" the conditioners upstairs to let them sit longer). She said that she would leave it on for a few minutes this time.

My mom continued to MASSAGE the perm through my WHOLE head! She let it sit for a few minutes. After she rinsed my hair out, we realized my hair broke off! My mom cut my a crazy looking bang to "blend it in". Imagine what someone's front bang looks like when it is grown down to their nose and then spit down the middle to make two awkward "side bangs".

To make it worse, My mom braided my hair with Blue Magic grease till it was a greasy as pork bacon.

...And we waited for another month to pass before washing it again.

And to make it worse, that same day I had found out that my hair was not naturally orange when I was little, it was because when I turned 3, my mom relaxed my hair AND used Sun In and the chemicals... did not like each other =]
I'll never forget that day!

How awful!
by: Nina D.

Really awful that you had to go through that. I guess when you know better, you can do better! I hope your hair is much better now.
