How to Get Natural Curls without the Frizz
If you have curly, coily, or kinky hair, you can frizz free natural curls by following a simple technique! This technique will eliminate the frizz, give great curl definition, and make your hair look absolutely amazing. Let's get maximum curl definition by following these easy steps!

Step 1: Conditioner Wash
Wash your hair with conditioner. Comb the conditioner through to eliminate the tangles. It may help to split your hair in half to make it easier if your hair is long and/or tangly.
Now, instead of rinsing out the conditioner, you're going to leave the conditioner in and just get rid of any excess. So, take your hands and gently but snugly run it down the length of your hair to squeeze out the excess conditioner. DO NOT RINSE.
Pin your hair up and get out of the shower.
Step 2: Shaping
The next step to getting natural curls is to determine how you want to wear your hair. Do you want a part on the side? A part down the middle? Figure out how you want your hair now because once you do the next step, you can't change it. Do not let your hair dry out.
You need to quickly move from Step 2 to Step 3.
Step 3: Curl Enhancer and Denman Brush
Here's the secret weapon to define natural curls. A Denman brush!! Get a Denman D4 Styling Brush and a thick curl defining product.
Part your hair across tthe back and pin the rest up. Divide this piece into 2-3 sections depending on how much hair. Move the piece you are not working with out of the way.
With the first section, take a dime sized amount of your styling product and apply it generously to the hair from root to tip. Make sure you get it on ALL of the hair.
Next, take your Denman Brush and starting at the ends, detangle until you've detangled the whole section. Then take your Denman brush and brush through one last time straight through from roots to ends. Do not touch your hair as you do this. Let the Denman do all of the work. Let the hair fall as it does.
Do you see the curls already beginning to form?
Take the next section of hair and do the same thing. Do this all over your entire head according to the hair style you chose to trying to create.
Step 4: Drying
Once you finish, you need to let your curls dry without touching.
There are various options to letting it dry:
- Sit under a hooded dryer for an hour until it dries almost completely.
- Let it air dry. But I warn you, this could take all day. However, it is very healthy for the natural curls you just created.
- You can also use a diffuser to dry your hair completely or just for 15 minutes or so.
You hair should dry to be soft curls that are beautiful and naturally yours! You just brough them out!
Conclusion
Your natural curls will be so pretty and defined that you will want to do touch them constantly. But don't do this because it will only promote frizz.
You may notice that you hair seems to shrink up a lot more than it usually does after using this brushing technique. The reason is simple.
Since the curls are all defined and have their home, there are no stray stands of hair lurking around and keeping curls from forming. Thus, more shrinkage simply because the hair is not forced to not shrink. This is actually more true shrinkage than what you normally see with your hair.
I hope this method works for you. There are various things you can do with this technique for natural curls. You can create a ponytail and only define the curls in the ponytail with the brush technique. Or you can make a half ponytail and half down look still using the brush to define curls.
Good luck with getting the most beautiful springy natural curls you could ever imagine!!
