Natural Ethnic Hair Style
The Wash n' Go
The wash n' go is the easiest natural ethnic hair style. Simply condition your hair only, apply your styling product in sections, and shape into the look you desire.
1. Conditioner Wash
In order to get the best curls for a wash n' go, you should only do a conditioner wash. Use a light conditioner like Tresemme or Herbal Essences Hello Hydration. You must comb through your conditioner with a shower comb. I prefer using the Jilbere shower comb that you can find at Sally Beauty Supply. Be gentle! This step is required for pretty much every natural ethnic hair style. Click here to read my article on conditioner washing.
2. Sitting and Rinsing
With the final comb-through, you should comb your hair into the shape of the final wash n' go. Then pin it up and let it sit while you bathe. Then rinse out. It's ok if you leave a little bit of the conditioner in.
3. Leave-In Conditioner
Use a creamy leave-in conditioner to further condition your hair. Great creamy leave-ins are Neutrogena Silk Touch and Salerm 21. Apply your creamy leave-in in sections to make sure you hit every hair!
4. Styling Product
Then apply your styling product. TIGI Catwalk Curls Rock Curl Amplifier is a great styling product. You're going to apply your styling product in the same sections that you applied your leave-in conditioner.
5. Shaping
Now that you've added your leave-in conditioner and styling product, you need to shape your hair into the desired look. First, make sure your part looks good if you have one. Then, using your hair, maneuver your hair into the shape you desire. You may have to twirl some curls around your finger to give them definition. You may have to add a little more styling product to some curls also.
6. Drying Your Curls
You're almost done with your wash n' go. You just need to get it dry. The best thing to do is to let it air dry but sometimes it's annoying to leave the house with your hair gradually dripping all over your shoulders and clothing. In that case, you can diffuse your hair partially or thoroughly. Use the diffuser on cool or medium setting and diffuse in sections until you reach the desired level of dry hair.
My favorite diffuser is the Diffuser Dryer. I like it because it's JUST a diffuser so it's easy to hold and nice and compact. See the picture below:
7. Add Shine
Now you're going to take a silicone shine spray like Keracare Liquid Sheen and lightly spray your hair all over to add amazing shine. This will help in the appearance of your healthy hair.
8. Don't Touch
The final step in your wash n' go natural ethnic hair style is to leave it alone. Don't mess with your curls or your hair now that it's dry or on the road to drying. The more you try to fix it, the more likely you'll actually just mess it up!
I hope these step by step instructions help you to create the natural ethnic hair style of a wash n' go pretty easily! Good luck!
