Pennyroyal Essential Oil
Pennyroyal Essential Oil has a long history dating back to Greek and Roman days, it was used both for its culinary attributes as well as its medicinal qualities. Pennyroyal leaves were dried and crushed and used as a deterrent for pests in early colonial America.
The use of Pennyroyal as a culinary herb has long been out of practice, Pennyroyal tea is still in use and of course the use of the Essential Oil is still quite popular.
This Essential oil comes from the Penny Royal plant and has a light spearmint scent.
Warnings
Pennyroyal Oil taken internally even in the smallest amounts can result in death. It should never be used by pregnant women. The leaves once they are dried are not toxic except in large amounts.
Ingesting this oil can cause stomach upset, spontaneous abortion in pregnant women and in the worst case cause death. The very same properties that cause this highly toxic plant to be highly toxic are also believed to cure certain disease of the skin, hair, stomach, joints and other body parts.

This is a an all natural antiseptic. It can be used lightly on cuts to help prevent infection.

As a pest repellant, it can be used as a bug repellant when outdoors.

This oil can be used as a massage oil to relieve the pain of arthritis and rheumatism.

It can also be added to the bath to act as a decongestant, it should never be inhaled directly, it can cause serious damage to the respiratory system.
Pennyroyal Essential Oil does have healing properties that have been widely proven, but it also has deadly qualities that also have been widely proven. It is best to use the oil under the supervision of a practitioner that can advise on the proper use.
