Scalp Dermatitis

What is Seborrheic Dermatitis?

Are you wondering what scalp dermatitis is and how this condition can be treated?  Actually, the dermatitis of the scalp is described an inflammation of the scalp that causes redness, itching, flaky skin, and even ulceration.

This condition is definitely not a very pleasant experience because aside from the fact that it is physically irritating, it can also lower your self esteem because this dermatitis is very noticeable.

For women, our hair is very important because it adds to our beauty. We even spend money just to make our hair more beautiful by visiting salons and receiving numerous hair treatments to enhance the appearance of our hair; however, when our scalp becomes infected, it is very alarming especially with the threat of hair loss.

One cause of infection would be scalp dermatitis and apparently, this condition is quite common because a lot of medical conditions can also cause it.

Sebhorreic Dermatitis

Generally, the most common type of dermatitis is sebhorreic dermatitis. This disease condition causes the skin to become flaky. Aside from that, your hair will also become oilier as this condition results in an over-production of oil glands. The first noticeable symptom of this condition is the development of small reddened patches that flake off. Aside from being itchy, this condition is embarrassing, thus resulting in decreased self esteem among women.

When sebhorreic dermatitis is already severe, it can lead to hair damage and permanent hair loss. This is the reason why you would not want to develop this condition – no one likes hair loss. Your hair serves as your crown and glory.  With your hair, you feel more beautiful.

It is innate for a woman to want to have long hair unlike men who can go bald by shaving their head anytime they wish to.

In order to avoid having permanent hair loss brought on by seborrheic dermatitis, preventing the condition itself is the key. Using anti fungal shampoos or formulated shampoos can help in the prevention and treatment of sebhorreic dermatitis.

Natural Remedy

On the other hand, there are also natural remedies for this condition. These natural remedies do not contain chemicals that can further irritate your scalp or even aggravate the condition.

Actually, there are different forms of dermatitis of the scalp aside from sebhorreic dermatitis. However, the main idea here is to have proper hair hygiene by ensuring that you frequently wash your hair and use mild hair care products so that scalp dermatitis won’t occur.
