Severe Hair Loss

Hello,

I am 27 yrs old and have very WEAK THIN type 3A curly hair. I used to have lots of hair on my head- although it was always thin but now my ponytail in is not even an inch thick in diameter. I do not know what to do.

I heard to use pure almond oil on hair and I did that everyday but it caused SO much breakage! I started noticing that every time I used the oil my hair would excessively fall off. I also tried using coconut oil and olive oil and mustard oil but nothing seems to work. I have stopped all use of oils.

I also used Henna on my hair. I am at a point where I just want to give up and start wearing a wig- this is my last attempt at getting healthy hair.

As of right now I do not use heat products (on very very rare occasions) I have not colored my hair in over 10 yrs. My hair is not dry in fact its very soft and I do not have many split ends. I used to have bra strap length and then it started falling out excessively so I cut it above my shoulders.

Although it is growing slowly, I can not seem to stop it from falling out. I have been reading your website (very helpful btw!!) and saw that you recommend using protein conditioners and deep conditioners, I wanted to know if that would help my hair type since it is very fragile- I do not want any more to fall out. Any suggestions/ Coments would help thank you!

How is your health?
by: Nina, Editor LHHA

Hi there,

Have you taken a look at your diet? I would suggest to start using some hair vitamins immediately. You can get some good ones at GNC. Take them regularly. In the meantime, make sure you're eating fruits and vegetables and getting proper nutrients.

Then, treat your hair with extra special care. Use gentle shampoos and conditioners. Try natural product stores. Deep condition your hair with heat - but remember to put on a plastic cap first.

When you go to bed at night, make sure to put your hair up and wrap it with a silk scarf.
