Taking Care of Hair
by Alissa Jacques
(East Stroudsburg, Pennsylvania)
HI, I'm a high school-er and I attend a boarding school in Delaware. The issue is, I want to know how to better take care of my hair while I'm there. Usually, I just run a comb through and leave it and that, washing it once-in-a-while. I mostly just the leave the hair care for when I come home on breaks. I was just wondering what I could do to better care for my hair and make it healthier and even longer. I do have relaxed hair.

Hi Alissa,
Yes, being away for school can make it very difficult to care for your hair. However, if you want your hair to be healthy and if growth is a goal for you, then you'll have to submit to a regular hair care regimen. It doesn't have to be all that difficult.
- Determine a schedule for shampooing and conditioning your hair. You should do this AT LEAST every two weeks.
- Learn how to roller set your hair and get a cheap hooded dryer from Wal-mart. You can study while you're under the dryer
- If you don't want to roller set your hair, let your hair airdry in a bun and then lightly flat iron it.
- Wear your hair up and keep it moisturized.
- Put your hair up at night.
