My Transition to Natural Hair - The Gallery

My transition to natural hair took place over a period of fifteen months. I started off with waist length hair and by the time 15 months were over, my hair was just shoulder length. Here are some pictures of my progress month-to-month.

June 2003 This was my hair length at the start of my transition. My last relaxer was 3 months before.	July 2003 I had to start coming up with some creative hair styles. The ponytail was what I mostly stuck with.	August 2003 This was the occasional braid-out that I wore down.

September 2003 I had my hair professionally straightened a few inches trimmed. It was still long but very thin.	October 2003 Wearing a braid-out ponytail added thickness and fullness to my hair.	November 2003 I straightened my hair lightly and then braided it to add some volume.

December 2003 I had my hair cut to bra strap length. It helped to make my hair less tangly and more full.	January 2004 Back to my ponytail braid outs. I was enjoying the fullness of my hair.	February 2004 How my usually looked at the end of the day when I let it down. It was good to be free.

March 2004 Straightened hair.	April 2004 This is just a bushy ponytail.	May 2004 My signature hair style - the ponytail braid out.

June 2004 My hair straightened again. It had grown quite a bit since my cut in December '03	July 2004 The tangles were beginning again so I decided to get my hair cut to just below my shoulders.	August 2004 Most of my relaxed ends were gone but there was still quite a bit left. About 70/30 at this point.
