transitioning

Nina,

My last relaxer was the first week in Dec '08. I would seriously like to grow out my relaxed hair and wear my natural 4b hair.

I am currently wearing my own hair braided down under wigs. I wash and deep condition 1x week and do conditioner-only washed 2-3x week. I keep my ends moisturized.

I previously had some breakage in the crown of my head due to doing my own relaxers and over-processing. My hair is getting in much better shape.

I just wanted to know what type of products you used at the start of your healthy transitional hair journey, your hair is so beautiful and I can only aspire to get similar results.

I put henna on my hair about a month ago because I researched and understand that it is a good strengthener and I love my hair color. Any hair tips would be greatly appreciated.

Thanking you in advance,

Tracie

Nina's Response

Hi Tracie,

When I transitioned, I used Carol's Daughter Healthy Hair Butter on my new growth to keep the line of demarcation moisturized. It was time-consuming but it worked extremely well.

I also conditioner washed my hair twice a week using light conditioners like Suave Coconut and Suave Humectant.

In addition to that, to keep my hair moisturized to avoid breakage, I always had a spray bottle with distilled water, a little conditioner, and some oil to spray on my hair prior to bed.
