Tuberose essential oil – Mistress of the Night
A century ago young ladies in France were instructed never to seek this flower out at night. It was said that it’s mildly spicy and intensely sweet fragrance would cause them to have inappropriate feelings and thoughts. The Tuberose blooms at night hence it is usually called the mistress of the night. The name signifies more than the time it blooms, the tuberose is said to be an aphrodisiac, a relaxant and a sedative.
Tuberose oil is highly prized in China, Egypt, Morocco and France more for its qualities as an ingredient in perfume rather than its healing properties in aromatherapy. Although tuberosa is non-toxic and a non-irritant, it has a very intense scent that may cause headache in others if not diluted or combined with other essential oils correctly. For this reason, very mild doses are prescribed for best results.
The tuberose oil being called mistress of the night is quite apt given its aphrodisiac properties. The essential oils have a very strong, and intoxicating. It fills the atmosphere with romance and love. Hence, is found effective in treating problems in the relationships.
In aromatherapy the pure tuberose oil is also used in sedating nervous and respiratory system inflammations, utilized as a deodorant, and praised for its warming properties for when the climate is cold or when heat needs to be applied to relax muscle stress or strain. Lastly, its pleasant scent relieves stress, anxiety, depression and nervousness.
