Using Too Much Protein

by Tracy
(Chicago, IL)

I was trying to strengthen my hair and used Aphoghee 2 Step Treatment for 6 straight weeks. The bottle said 6 weeks to stronger hair and I thought I had to use it for 6 weeks in a row instead of once every six weeks. Anyway, my hair became hard and broke off. It took a year for it to revitalize itself. It is still very dry.

Aphogee isn't for everybody but it worked for me
by: SukuraFabuki

Hi All,

First I'd like to say I'm so sorry for the bad experiences everyone who's posted here has had with the Aphogee 2Step Treatment.

When I first heard about Aphogee - there were so many negative reviews attached to it that I literally developed a fear and avoided trying the product. Now, my hair type is fine but can get thick at the roots with new growth etc. My beautician friend also recommended I not try the product due to this very fact. She said it would be too strong for my hair.

What made me try Aphogee despite all of this is the fact that in addition to having fine hair I have VERY porous hair... I did some research and found that one of the best remedies for porous hair were protein treatments... I did further research and found that one of the more 'strong' protein treatments on the market was the Aphogee 2 step treatment.

So reluctantly, I went out and bought two packs of the stuff. For about a month or so I would consider doing the treatment and then fearfully back out.

I should mention that I am in the process of stretching my hair. I'm 5 months and one week post relaxer. My goal was 6 months (3 more weeks to go) but due to a recent request I got for a feature spot in a local magazine I'm having to end my stretch because I must look fly for this article ^^! The longer I kept my stretch the more difficult/frustrating managing my two textures became for me. While my lovely new growth was coming in strong I seriously felt like I was losing my mind when it came down to the hair matting after washing (once a week deep condition etc. works best when you don't have two different hair textures), single strand knots and the fact that my porous hair could only maintain a roller set curl for a few hours I really needed a solution if I were to keep my stretch for another 4 weeks.

So I made up my mind I would try the Aphogee 2 treatment. The product package clearly states for professional use only, because of this I was extremely careful to follow the instructions to the T.

Before I started my treatment because of my hair type (fine) I actually pre-pooed using a deep conditioner and natural oils etc mask. I did this for about 45 minutes then rinsed it from my hair. THEN I followed the steps in the Aphogee 2 step treatment. Boy was I happy with the results. Every part of my hair - from the new growth to the processed straight ends looked/felt stronger, healthier etc. I followed the Moisture balance PH thingy that comes with the treatment with air drying my hair and finishing off with an olive oil moisturizer. (Which I usually would have used) The results were beyond satisfactory! I was beyond pleased and could not have been happier. I experienced NO breakage - my hair was softer, stronger, healthier and over all happier ^^!

So while Aphogee might not work for everyone Aphogee works for me!

aphogee

I didn't go to the extreme of using aphogee. I remeber using it only once and it broke my hair off. I didn't like it at all and will never use it again.

There is hope..

My ex hairdresser did the same to me with a protein treatment, six weeks straight of pure torture, and my hair did the same thing, It become dry, brittle and broke off. Do a moisturizer treatment Jojoba Oil. My current hairdresser does this and it helped with all the dryness. I'm recovered.
