Wearing a ponytail when hair is wet?

by Telma
(Cape Town)

Hi Nina

I am trying to stop heat-styling my hair so much, my hair is curly and thin so I decide its best if I heat style once a month and for the rest of the other weeks I will wear my hair curly.

Problem, will I cause any damage to my hair if I wear a ponytail straight after I am finished with the washing?

Just concerned i want to grow it out and definitely without any damage whatsoever. And while I wear the ponytail what products do you advise me to use besides a leave-in conditioner?
I also sometimes look for individual split ends and trim them myself. Does that damage the hair? my hair is also very dry someone suggested that I should use Redken for (strength and repair for distressed hair)to build the strength and then I can use moisture products for shine. What do you think about it?

My main goal is to achieve mid-length hair just below my bra strap i really hope i will be successful.

please help.

By the way the website is marvelous

Sounds like a great hair plan!

Hi Telma,

Your hair plan sounds just fine to me.
Creating a ponytail while your hair is wet should not be a problem as long as you are gentle and using gentle hair accessories..no metal!

In addition to a leave-in conditioner, you can also use a moisturizing lotion like Carol's Daughter Hair Milk.

Trimming the individual splits is just fine. Just don't obsess over them because it could lead to a lot of uneven hair. And make sure you're using hair sheers that are meant especially for your hair and only for your hair!

Good Luck!
