Why Me???
by LaKenya
(Robinsonville, MS)
This is so hard for me to do. My horror story begins when I tried to look for a stylist that promoted healthy hair. So, I decided to ask around; I asked co-workers, friends, family members and let?s just say I asked everybody. Finally, a co-worker gave me the number to a replicable salon that will remain nameless. I was ecstatic! Her hair was always so gorgeous. So I knew that I had found exactly what I was looking for. She also gave me the name not only of her stylist; but, three of the best in the salon which included the "busy" manager.
I made the appointment with the manager because she had to be the best. Everything was GREAT! She treated my hair, trimmed the split end and styled it beautifully. I made an appoint to return in two weeks. This relationship continued for about two months.
It's now November 2008, my last day to ever sit in her chair. Upon arriving at the salon I found out that my stylist had over booked herself. I asked her if I needed to come back, she told me that I would have to make an appointment for three weeks. What women can wait three weeks to have her hair done? Not to mention it's time for my relaxer. So, I decided to stay.
Two or three hours has past, now it's my turn. I take a seat. She starts to relax my hair right away, she didn't base my hair or anything. She worked the relaxer through. Afterwards she left me there while she starts on someone else's hair. After waiting, I informed her that my head was starting to itch. She than told me not to touch it. Within seconds it started to burn. I told her and she just continued to look for her flat-irons. I informed her again and this time my head was on fire. I walked over to a sink, informed another stylist. He yelled for her to come, wash out my hair. The burning didn't stop!
They shampooed my hair several times, conditioned and finally a deep conditioner. I sat under that dryer for about twenty minutes, to no avail. My head was still burned. I had sores! She applied some kind of oil or something, it helped a little.
Four days later, I couldn't comb my hair it was stuck to my scalp because of the sores. So, I tried washing it. That helped but at this point I not only had a scalp of sores; my hair was so fragile once it dried, all I had to do was run my fingers through my hair and it would just fall out. After a week I noticed that I had no hair in the back of my head near my right ear. Days passed and I was still losing hair. About another week had gone by, I noticed another bald spot at the back of my head near the crown. My hair just continued to break.
My cousin finally said to me, "enough!" We went to the salon and we asked for the manager. To my surprise, she was no longer employed there. I explain to the new manger about my hair, he remembered that horrible day, he decided to give me free treatments until my hair grows back. But, now I'm look for something better.
